.

Interesting, to say the least. It's not a squid or pinniped for sure, even a landlocked simpleton like myself can tell that. You have to love some of the comments though. I like the one about the DFO taking so long to get there and them being only 20 minutes away. That seems like the norm. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

"They insisted that the victim animals simply had died of dog bites from dogs or other animals. They suggested that disease might have been responsible for one animal's death. They denied that the victims had been exsanguinated, as many witnesses had claimed, and even suggested that the puncture wounds reported might be from barbed wire. Callers reminded them that some wounds were deep enough to reach into the victims' lungs, that the flesh was not torn as in dog bites, that signs of struggles were inexplicably missing, and that corpses did not decay normally, but their arguments were brushed aside. Also brushed aside were callers' attempts to bring extraterrestrials into the conversation.

When the recording ended. I rewound it and played it again and again. I still could not believe what I was hearing. The callers had the skeptics pinned against the ropes from the very first call." - Scott Corrales

If they can do some sort of genetic test on it, it might be easier to find out what it's predators could be. Also depending on how long the thing had been dead and exposed to the elements could distort it's looks. It looks like it's really cold, so that would probably rule out sharks, could killer whales be involved? Not sure if orcas can handle cold water or not. Most curious indeed. You know, the headline reads "another" and I'm curious as to how many HAVE been found. Is it seasonal? Are they finding these things only in the winter?

Thanks MM. Seeing how that is the case, my money is on an Orca attack. Not being an expert, I'd say that they could probably handle a 15 foot creature.

I'm going to have to go with a headless member of the Skate family on this.

Maybe an oarfish. I've never seen anything but pictures of them and they can

get even bigger than what is pictured. After decomposition and and a few weeks

with no ciculatory system, and a ride in briny water, nothing looks anything like it

did when it was alive. Just remember even Humpbacks attacked harpoon boats….

……….so biting this litte morsel in half wouldn't slow them or an Orca down much!

All they have to feel is threatened or hungry and CHOMP McRib! /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I live in the Pacific Northwet (west) …

Out on the Pacific Ocean Beaches you can see some "strange" creatures washed up here and there … and all of them were common .. but were 'strange' because of time .. injuries .. bite marks that healed but that part of the body never 'came back' but they survived long enough to heal and so on…..

It will be fun to see what the answer is .. once and a very great while, Mom Nature throws a curve ball.
