According to the experts there are no known species of black cats living in the US other than domestic house cats. I know this footage is black and white but looks much larger than a house cat to me, not 6 feet though?

Louisiana Panther?

"They insisted that the victim animals simply had died of dog bites from dogs or other animals. They suggested that disease might have been responsible for one animal's death. They denied that the victims had been exsanguinated, as many witnesses had claimed, and even suggested that the puncture wounds reported might be from barbed wire. Callers reminded them that some wounds were deep enough to reach into the victims' lungs, that the flesh was not torn as in dog bites, that signs of struggles were inexplicably missing, and that corpses did not decay normally, but their arguments were brushed aside. Also brushed aside were callers' attempts to bring extraterrestrials into the conversation.

When the recording ended. I rewound it and played it again and again. I still could not believe what I was hearing. The callers had the skeptics pinned against the ropes from the very first call." - Scott Corrales

This could be a panther, even though LA is not it's natural habitat, people smuggle these exotic animals in all the time. It could be that it escaped or the owner couldn't handle it and let it loose.

My thoughts exactly. I remember a few years ago we had an escape Gorilla here. Was running on the freeway….that was an interesting news day lol! This could also explain why people are seeing it. Since its not its natural habitat it has to search out food and shelter in other ways.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

(1) eat less,

(2) don’t ask for money all the time,

(3) are easier to train,

(4) normally come when called,

(5) never ask to drive the car,

(6) don’t smoke or drink,

(7) don’t want to wear your clothes,

(8) don’t have to buy the latest fashions,

(9) don’t need a gazillion dollars for college and

(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children ..

My family has spotted black panthers in East Texas for years now.

What experts are these?

There have been many sightings of large black cats in the UK and there have been animals killed there in a manner consistent with how a cat kills, drags off and consumes it's prey. The best theory is that these cats were released into the wild by owners. If they can live and thrive in the very domesticated countryside of Britain, they could definitely survive in the wilds of Louisiana (or Texas).

A guy in Harlem had a full-grown tiger in his apartment for more than 5 years and people only found out when it bit him. If you can hide a tiger in Harlem, NYC, you could definitely hide a large cat anywhere else. All it takes is finding someone to buy a cub from illegally, which I'm sure is not hard to do if you have the money. You can buy ANYTHING if you have the cash in hand, unfortunately.

It really dont look like a panther doesnt seem long enough, more like a house cat like you said lol… but I live in MS and I have actually seen and heard MANY black panthers in the woods were my grandfather lives and it may not be there natural habitat, but it is very similar cuz in these woods there is much shade and much humidity…. and magnolia trees =D

I can`t really see if it has ears or not, but the movement didn`t really seem like a cat`s to me.

And more importantly…either that is a very big car or that cat was NOT 6 feet long….if i had to say an animal, i`d say its a big beaver because of how it walks near the end(we don`t have beavers were i live to be sure though).

I went back and watched the video again. I am convienced this guy is 'over selling' the size of the cat first off. He claimed 6+ feet … yet look at it (the cat) and "size" it next to the RV .. that cat is not 6 ft anymore then I'm 10 ft tall. (I'm 6 ft 6 in). Me thinks at this point, this 'cat tale' is 'slightly exagerated .. much like many Louisiana cat fish tales …. When you have the RV as a rough scale and this RV is on the smaller side of RV's … nope … this cat is not 6+ ft. I would easily estimate it to be more along 3 +/- Feet.
