Left over from the dinosaurs, or do they exist at all? We want to know.

Archaeology is the peeping Tom of the sciences. It is the sandbox of men who care not where they are going; they merely want to know where everyone else has been.- Jim Bishop

I have been inclined to think they do still exist, but why can't we find them in the numerous exhibitions taken?

I have seen many lake creatures, caught them in fact. You see, no one, and I mean no one makes up more **** than an angler.

I suppose that it is possible for sea creatures to be left over from the past, but for me, this one is a bit more difficult to attempt to prove, for anyone. There are some very real problems with finding these creatures, although they are, as in the case of Champ and Nessie, allegedly stuck in a fairly small region. How do you survey for them underwater? I mean, side scan sonar is great and all, but I would imagine that any creature that lived under water could detect sonar to some degree…why could it not just swim away? Who's to say that the darn things aren't just floating around down there having a grand old game of tag with the boats full of researchers?

It's kind of a conundrum with trying to use sonar is a body of water that large. Anything powerful enough to not be evaded would likely kill whatever was in the water near it, not to mention the size of the platform necessary to mount and power it. For example, the main active sonar on a nuclear attack submarine could fill Loch Ness with enough sound to find **** near anything, but it takes several megawatts to power it. It will also throw out enough acoustical energy to boil water right next to it, and if it's accidentally pulsed with divers alonside, it's pretty much closed-casket funeral time.

It might be possible to scan the entire lake at once with an array of small networked sonars, but it wouldn't be cheap.

I fart, therefore I art.

Well I guess that, take loch ness for example, that the size of the lake is a very good factor. I mean they have picked up large figures on sonars in that lake before, but its kind of hard to cover a loch like that with only four boats, and it was lucky they even got something on the sonar. For the others like lake champlain its kind of hard to understand that, but i'm sure that some of the stories of the lake monster have been made up.

You would almost think that the most cost effective thing to do would be to ring the Loch with web cams and let people look all they wanted, whenever they wanted…They would have to be fairly high quality cameras, but it could easily be done..

Deep ocean is very likely where one might find suitable forage and habitat for "monsters." Freshwater lakes, doubtful.

Ogpogo carcass found !

.

Ogopogo

.

Unless this is some type of infant seems awful small to me, 1.2 meters? Most reports seem to project this creature as being at least 15-20 feet long. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

"They insisted that the victim animals simply had died of dog bites from dogs or other animals. They suggested that disease might have been responsible for one animal's death. They denied that the victims had been exsanguinated, as many witnesses had claimed, and even suggested that the puncture wounds reported might be from barbed wire. Callers reminded them that some wounds were deep enough to reach into the victims' lungs, that the flesh was not torn as in dog bites, that signs of struggles were inexplicably missing, and that corpses did not decay normally, but their arguments were brushed aside. Also brushed aside were callers' attempts to bring extraterrestrials into the conversation.

When the recording ended. I rewound it and played it again and again. I still could not believe what I was hearing. The callers had the skeptics pinned against the ropes from the very first call." - Scott Corrales

Me too. This report is from July 8th, you would think they probably would have something by now. Probably will turn out to be some type of fish or inconclusive. There has to be something large and not normally seen in this lake to cause all those reports. We are not talking about a handful but over 1,000. The lake is approx. 84 miles long and 1,200 feet deep in spots so who knows whats down there. /unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I watched a show about big fish. I think it was Monster Quest. The Alligator Gar, is one large strange looking fish. The head looked just like an alligator.

Who knows DD what's down there, it's very deep. When I was in Scotland at the Lock Ness, the people I talked with explained, due to the deepth, there is very little visibility. I think it's over 800 ft deep. The lock will hold all the water of all the lakes in the UK, just due do it's depth. But, Lock Ness is only the second largest lock in Scotland. We spent a full day around the Lock, touring castles and takng in the view of the Lock. I could not help looking out across the Lock looking for Nessie. Seemed everyone else was too, and the Lock is beautiful and scenic. Oh well, I did not get a Nessie sighting.

I was looking for Gerard Butler also, he's a gorgeous Scottish actor, didn't find him either. /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

If you find anything out about the DNA, would you let me know. Thanks /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Fox news and some other news channels are reporting a story about a person that was using Google Earth and spotted what looks like Nessie on the surface of the loch. Here is the picture in question. While to me I can see Nessie, I mainly see a boat moving in the water and wake left behind.

What do you think?

Thats a boat. The chances of picking up any aquatic animal on Goggle Earth is infinitesimal at best. /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />
