I just find it so absurd that the origninal view of the fairy has been so twisted. It started as little people who lived in the hills and were very much like our soicety, to creatures an inch long flying around and kissing little boys on the forehead... creepy lol. But it still is an importan part of history, almost every major piece of fairytale has some type of reference in it (obviously) In Beauty and the Beast, Jack and the Beanstalk, and in Rumplestiltskin (oh i hope I spelled that right).

At first I was excited although immediately questioned it, I thought it was funny though when I found out it was a joke. I also make things like that but I never claim that they are real. Fairies and the like have interested me for a while now. Normally I do not believe in such mythical creatures but this group had me wondering. Most Cryptids I say, "bring me evidence and I'll consider it" but creatures of 'magic' I find more suspicious then cryptids of flesh and blood. These creatures are very interesting though, is it possible for them to live beside us or in the dark for so long without us knowing? Possibly. I am wondering if there is any already existing evidence on them, if so I'd love to see it.

A few years back I spent a fews weeks on Maui with my daughters. We did the horseback thing one day and on the van ride to the stables, a young haole woman regaled my kids with tales of the Menehune. Not sure they bought it but what they did buy was the woman's claim that Noni juice cured her skin cancer. The juice comes from the crushed leaves of a non-native tree and was said to have other healing benefits; my youngest suffers from exzema and asked the woman if she thought the juice would help with that, and the woman said she was sure of it.

Well after the ride, I of course purchased a bottle, and of course it didn't work. And I don't think it cures skin cancer either.

	Sorry, nearly derailed.

Elves and fairys have been ver existent in every country around the world. Americans see them as cute little creatuers that fly around in gardens, while Scottish and Irish people beleive them to be small people who live in the hills called 'the gentry' or 'the hill folk'.

Elves can be seen in almost every major fantasy adventure story that we find today, rather it be the classic lord of the rings novels or the new age series, "The Ledgend Of Drizzt." Elves were also a figure in Norse Mythology. Here they were called Vanir and were depicted as skinny people of great beauty who tended the earths flowers trees and etc. However, in most texts the description of pointed ears is absent, one thing that is very prevelant today.

As a matter of fact, most people in Iceland, which is were the Norse Mythology was mostly prevelent, still beleive in elves. They beleive that they live in their lava fields and if you tred across them they will trip you. Although this is biased to the idea of them in Norse mythology it is what they beleive. The government of Iceland will even build roads around places that they thing are inhabited by faires or elves, rather than save money by going through it.

Dwarves, on the other hand, have been a liitle more illusive in history. Although the are as prevelant as elves in fantasy novels and games, they are not as prevelant in history. The main and probably only reliable source we have on dwarves is their existence in Norse Mythology. There they were described as men who lived under the earth wher were uglier than any other, but could smith things better than any creature alive. It never, however, says that dwarves are short in stature. Dwarves were famed for smithign the hair of Thor's Wife, the spear of Odin, the hammer of Thor, and many other intersting trinkets that spark interst.

Dwarves are not that prevelant today, however in Scotland during the 18th or 17th century, contact with dwarves was a daily occurance that everyone accepted. However, in Scotland they depict the fairy, elf, and dwarf as the same creatures, calling them other names for they beleive that those previously listed to be offensive. One would do his best to stay away from these creatures for they were seen as mischevious, one trait that seems to be most prevelant when dealing with these creatures.

Of all the images we have of these creatures, they seemed to be depicted in history as all being called elves, but having a different look (Fey or fay however is the most popular name for these type of creatures) suchs as some are short and stocky while some are skinny and have saggy breast that they can throw over their shoulders (true). There are far more than one type of elf and it would not be neciassary to describe and tell of them all, which is why I prefer that people read books for the best of knowledge. I myself beleive in these creatures, but that is because I have strong faith, I have very little evidence supporting my claim however.
