^^^ I lol'd at this article....oh yeah...THAT'S what I saw that night....

spending literally thousands upon thousands of hours hunting the most

desolate locations into Mexico and South East of Laredo, that not once have I

ever seen a mix wolf Hybrid or a blue hairless anything.

The strangest creature I ever stalked, in this area of Texas, was a

Jagurundi (sic). Weirdest animal I have ever been witness to period.

Doesn't mean that in a world the size of ours that bad timing couldn't be at

play but it does give me pause in loading up the truck and going on a

Chupacabra expedition.

My husband, on the other hand, is 100% sure.

If anyone wants a true understanding of the chupacabras I recommend reading this book. They are tons of reports from Puerto Rico during the mid 90's at the height of activity. This is not about a smallish coyote looking animal running around the back roads of Texas either. These reports never made any mainstream news and the extent and the limited duration of the carnage defy common logic. One of my favorite books on a paranormal subject.

Read Scott Corrales book "Chupacabras & Other Mystery" if you want a real look at the Chupacabra phenomenon it has a lot more than anything noted on television. By the way looks like Monster Quest is doing a similar show to Nat Geo, will have to see what the differences are.

I agree with DoverDemon on this reccomendation.

There's very little material out there about the Chupacabras, Scott's book is certainly the best available right now.

But, these dogs are rare, wonder if breeders were checked in the area?

Sad to say sometimes puppy mills dump ill bred dogs, or ill dogs.

I'll have to see, I'm about 6 books deep right now and not sure if I have a spot on deck for anything new, I'll take it under advisement though, thanks for the heads up.

I'm vaguely aware of the Chupacabras but admit ignorance on it's history. Is this a creature that indigenous people have reported for some time or is it a more recent thing w/the influx of Central/South Americans into the US? My girl's family is from Nicaragua and her father lived out in the country on a farm and said that he'd heard of the creature, but never saw one or had any livestock lost to them. But he also said they had decent sized dogs that roamed their property to ward off any trespassers (2 or 4 legged). It's hard to dispel anything out of hand anymore as we hear accounts of creatures either thought to be non-existent or (in some cases) even extinct appearing soooo who knows.

Norcal, you missed it. The footage was indeed shown during the show. It was very similar to all the other creatures in the Texas area filmed as being a possible "chupacabra". They had 2 different ones that were hit by a vehicle that were analyzed by Texas Tech. As Movieman noted a Biology professor @ Texas Tech thinks they are some type of hybrid wolf. I don't recall them ever saying what the results from the genetic testing produced. The original reports of the Chupacabra from Peurto Rico don't even resemble a dog and they were briefly mentioned but most of the show revolved around the Texas version. I am not so sure this is the culprit because this type of animal would rip a chicken to shreds and not just drain the blood from it and then be done.

That's a very interesting piece of footage. The snout of the animal the sheriff filmed seems much longer than the hybrids that have been brought in. There could be some variation I suppose but it appears that there's a whole group of these hybrid animals living in that area of Texas. I'd agree that this creature would likely rip it's prey to pieces. (after it carried it off)

There are actually some Chupa reports from the southwest that are closer to the accounts found in Peurto Rico but they don't seem to get as much attention as the canine style reports. Perhaps we're looking at two different types of unknown creatures living in the same area.

Looks like a trip to Texas is in order. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
