I had a HOLY **** moment today. I was telling my sister about this stuff and then -the moment- YEARS ago i was at a friends house and had a very smiler experience to one of the BEK. I even posted it back in the scifi forums. I just spent like an hour over there looking for my post but no luck. any one from back in the day remember it (or knows how to find it I even posted a diagram of the house remember remember) I wish my memory was as good as it used to be. It was just me and her and it was rather late and her parents were...somewhere we did end up calling the cops it was eerie and there was just something not right about it. Even the cops we told are story to seemed a little creeped out. Now I will always wonder. I know that post in hiding some where in the depths of the skiffy forum... I will find it.

Well I am thoroughly freaked out. Weather its kids playing pranks or something els the whole idea of a stranger coming up to you or to your home or just stare at you like the stories tell is just creepy. You have no idea who this people are they could be a rapist a serial killer, part of a gang initiation, and I'm not talking about ha ha you have to scare some one to be one of us I'm talking about the type of initiation in which they have to inflict bodily harm. If this happened to me I'd have a feeling of dread too, no matter what color eyes the person has. There are some crazy people out there.

A lot of people believe that the BEK mystery is solved simply because black contacts are available but it just doesn't hold water against some of the encounters. Wether they're human or otherwise, they clearly do not have good intent.

I've culled through a couple of hundred of these reports, and yes a lot of them can be attributed to pranksters. Especially when older teens or young adults are involved. There are many reports however that can not be explained away.

I assume psi-kiddies is your nickname for them. I really curious to learn about a group carrying out this kind of hoax for such a long period of time.

Yes these are not knew. Here was what I did back 'then'. I would listen to on-line chats (Yahoo! - MSN and such.)

I listened (read) the chats going on. Something would catch my attention and I would follow-up and/or have my son (teen then) follow-up for me.

I would also ask, "Wow, does anyone know about ...(fill in paranormal event - aka - BEKS) .. and again listen (read) ... and sometimes I would get leads ... "Oh, go check out this or that group." They didn't have "official names" ... just kids doing these things for a "laugh". Teen groups and such. Why I would have my son help me. He would be able to better relate to them ... He enjoyed helping dad investigate various trends and such going on, especially in the Paranormal/Psi realm. My son is now 26 ... so this tells you how long ago this was. He was early - mid teens then.

The problem with the older 'reports' is they are really hard to follow-up on. You only have what amounts to "hear-say".

Then you have the problem of people not wanting to admit they've been 'fooled/douped'. So they try to 'save face', by feeding and building on other reports, so they 'look good'. Just like the "BIGFOOT" reports ... how do you sort through the 'facts' from the 'fiction'??

Like I said, I'll have to do some digging ... I am honestly not even sure now if any of those groups are even around anymore. I know Microsoft killed all their 'on-line groups'.

Go to YAHOO! Groups and type in Black Eyed Kids - or BEKS - or the prior with Gags, pranks, jokes and such. This is what I would have to do now, myself. Use various phrases along those lines and see if a group triggers memory.

You'd actually be surprised how many are doing this, to get a 'rouse'. Some even have hidden cameras taking pictures/videos of the encounters and have a good laugh.

People are easily spooked when caught off guard, even the 'best of us'.

I've also tried to investigate some of these 'sightings' and it's funny when you start to ask specific questions about the claims and encounters of some of the reports ... they start to back track real fast.... or they have a sudden case of "I don't remember ..." sort of thing.

So I'm not to quick to want to believe this is anything more then 'ghost stories' and kids having fun. I just have not found credible evidence beyond the Eye Contacts explination and un-verifiable 'stories', when you start to ask specifics, When, Where, Who else (names) and such. Then you begin to find the actual 'foundation' of the story.

If anyone has actual leads ... challenge them with specific questions (WHO-WHAT-WHEN-WHERE - Witnesses) and see what happens.

I respect your opinion, but I did ask all of the questions you suggest and their story holds up. The contact theory is not satisfactory to me for the following reasons:

The "person" my family members encountered was a grown man. In the part of the country where they live, it would be highly likely that my SIL would have a gun under the car seat which would make games like this VERY dangerous, especially for a grown man to play. A child probably wouldn't risk being shot, but an adult man attempting to get into a car with a mom and her 3 kids would be very likely to take one between the eyes. Seriously.

The contact theory also fails to explain the fact that only two of the four saw his eyes as all black, or the fact that his skin looked so odd to all of them, or the whole general air of "wrongness" surrounding the man. Even the way he talked was "off" - he spoke in a very flat monotone that gave them all the creeps.

Since I know my nieces and believe them to be competent witnesses, I do not think that they are lying or making this up. Even my ex-SIL was terrified, and she is literally not scared of the devil himself.

Finally, my nieces and their mother are not seeking any kind of attention from this encounter. Rather, they just want to forget all about it. My niece only told me about it because it was fresh and still on her mind. She would kill me if she knew that I told the story, even anonymously. Most people who encounter these beings do not seek any kind of fame or fortune from it, other than the first published story of an encounter by an actual journalist. Even the journalist didn't cover stories in this line, but just wanted to tell his story because it affected him so deeply. Most people seem to feel like my family does - that it's best not to talk about it and just forget it. Mostly, they seem relieved to find out that other people have had similar encounters and that they are not the only ones, or nuts.

KuriusKat- I've got to say that the mere thought of this "creature" is absolutely terrifying. I have no idea what I'd do if I ever saw one. I really think there is something to this phenomena- if you can call it that. Honestly, as much as it scares me, I don't think I ever would have completely believed it if it hadn't been my own experience with Mothman(and I truly believe that there is a tie between Mothman, BEK's and MIB's). Perhaps like with much of the paranormal, you have to "see it to believe it". Or at least have an experience.

That being said- I hope your nieces, their mom and your mom are able to cope with all that's happen- the loss of family is hard enough without having to deal with such a frightening experience.

Thanks, Jilla. Actually, I think the deaths made them pretty much forget the whole thing. Too much going on to think about one thing too much.

My niece actually told me about their encounter while we were together in the cardiac ICU waiting room. She was really scared by the encounter, much more so than her younger sisters who were scared too but it didn't linger as much with them. She's 16 and they are only 13 and 12, so maybe that made a difference. Also, only she and her mother saw his eyes as completely black which probably made a difference, too.

I just wonder if my mom and I being interested in the black eyed people is what drew him to my mom's house. I also wonder if there is a link somehow to the death of my mom's mother and my ex SIL's uncle - are these beings some kind of portent of death or something? I haven't heard that in any of the stories.

Also, how do you explain the stories where some people see the people as black eyed and others don't? There have been several reports like this. For example, stewardesses on a plane were all totally freaked out by a passenger, but each saw his eyes as a different color. Only one of the stewardesses saw his eyes as completely black. Since they were all watching him constantly out of fear of what he was going to do, he had no time to change contacts. What's interesting about this story is that ALL the stewardesses were terrified by this man for no real reason, so much so that they asked the pilot to come out and have a look at the guy for himself. He came out to shake hands with the passengers as they disembarked and he reportedly was very shaken by his encounter with this man as well. There are several similar stories and stories where someone's eyes flash all black very briefly. I have never heard of multi-colored contacts that you can change at will.

That's the thing that differentiates the contact cases from the "real" black-eyed people, IMHO. The terror that they induce even when people don't actually see the black eyes is what makes them so interesting.

On a personal note, my nieces and their mother had just such an encounter a few weeks ago. My ex-SIL was dropping my nieces off at my mom's house when a man suddenly knocked on the driver's window of the car. He was dressed in camo that wasn't really military and spoke in a completely monotone voice, asking them for a ride to a local town. All four of them were freaked out by the guy, but only my ex-SIL and my eldest niece saw his eyes as completely black. The other two perceived them as very large and very dark - "too dark", was how one of my nieces put it, and I have irises that are almost black, so it's not like they haven't seen dark eyes before.

All of them described his skin as being "wrong" somehow, not like real skin at all, and his demeanor was off. My ex SIL was terrified of this guy, but started to roll her window down anyway, which she finds totally unexplainable. Her oldest daughter had to actually stop her from rolling the window down. When they looked at the window after the brief struggle, the guy was just gone. Literally gone out of sight, which should have been impossible. The girls ran into the house and were very nervous for hours.

Later that evening, my mom saw the same guy standing at the end of her sidewalk, just staring at the house. She got a terrible vibe from him, too, but was way too far away to see his eyes.

The really freaky part of this story is that within a week of this encounter, my nieces' uncle and grandmother died within days of each other. I don't know if it is related, but it does make me wonder.

I want to make it clear that my nieces and their mother had never even heard of the black eyed people before this. They were totally freaked out when my mom told them that other people had also had encounters with similar "people". My mother and I have been interested in these stories since I found out about them recently, but it is hardly a topic that you would share with young teens.

I also want to make it clear that my SIL is hardly the type to be fooled by contact lenses or by the eyes of someone on drugs. Dilated pupils are one thing: totally black eyes and skin that doesn't look like real skin are something completely different.

Ya -- When funny isn't funny to someone else .. it can create injuries and even death and the old line, "Kids will be kids" ... will not 'cut it'. What happens if they scare someone with a heart condition and causes them to die??
