Okay- so of all the things I've heard about over the years, somehow this one completely evaded me. And in some ways I'm glad it did. I just googled it and it's by far the scariest thing I've ever read about. Darn me and my curiosity! Here come the nightmares! lol

Shaun was awesome on our radio show last week. Thanks Shaun!

I hope everyone had a chance to catch it. If not, it will be online as a podcast soon.

We will be running Shaun's Special Report on Black-Eyed Kids in the September issue of Paranormal Underground. The topic is definitely frighting!

Thanks again for having me on the show.

I came across the phenomena in 1999 and when i started reading about encounters i was spooked (which doesn't happen easily to me). What fascinates is me how much the BEK's seem to mirror many of the obscure details of the Men-in-Black. The first stories (with the need of invitation, hypnotism and disappearing exits) have strong elements of Vampire and Demonic folklore but their dress and ethnicity are more in line with the "gypsies, negroid, korean" etc folk from Keel's Mothman case. Interesting stuff they SEEM to be (and i change my mind often on many para-subjects when recieving new info)primarily a urban/suburban manifestation (although they show up now in 26 states for us) kinda a "metropolitan legend" run amok. But one that is being encountered more and more frequently. Would love any feed back on this has been one of my favorite toics for several years now.

PS "negroid" was the term used in the book not my word just so yall know.

Okay – after our talk on Thursday I've been doing some research into the BEK phenomena because it still fascinates me. One of the things that jumped out at me when Shaun was talking about it – and continues to jump out at me – is there insistence on being let "IN." I'm wondering if this becomes some kind of a permission – for instance, I've often heard that a demon can only possess that which has invited it in in some way.

Reminded me of Vampires…

Is that what vampires do? I don't really read much about vampires….so my knowledge of them is shaky at best.

according to Lost Boys they have to be invited into a home to have power in it /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

yes, my Vampire knowledge comes from the movies /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> , but i assume they got that from somewhere when they were writing the movie.

Yeah – I've been doing a little more reading this morning and several people have said the vampire thing.

I had to chuckle when he said they are usually wearing plaid.

Nick always wears flannel shirts…maybe I need to worry /laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

he even wrote a horror story once "The Kid in the Flannel Shirt" /unsure.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

be afraid be very afraid haha nah just (phantom)clowning. Yeah the Vampire is the most often associated with the BEK's but we also see demon parallels but the invitation (present in demonic possession) is tied to the vampir through modern folklore it isn't present in the first cases however the Vampire has had quite the "**** eye for the straight guy" makeover. Originally the were the walking dead. Reanimated corpses walking (often with a death shroud drapped over them) now they are "Absolutely Fabulous" such as the Metro-Sexual-esque new vamps on the block Twilight. Anyways will keep yall informed on the BEK's.

How far back do the stories go of BEK's- and it is an international phenomenon or only Central/North American? It really is interesting how they seem similar to the MIB- only almost creepier. Freaky looking kids seem to always trump everything on the scary-o-meter.

I just found 1998, nothing international, other than the Mexico story, which was different.

The man described the boy as having talon like nails on his feet.

Other than the guy who gave a BEK a ride and got killed (supposedly) I'm dieing lol to find a story of someone who let them in. /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Just looked up these stories. Also- there is a disease, Aniridia, that causes the eye to be all black.

One thing I can't help but wonder- so often in alien descriptions, their entire pupils are always all black.

And tying it into the recent crop circle post on here- the image of the alien in the crop circle, a supposed "self portrait" with the positive hopeful message- that alien has a visible iris, like we do. If the "all black pupil" aliens are the bad guys- one could argue that they're posing as these BEKs. Then you've got the Men in Black that, while weird and odd, are acting more as FBI than meddling demon kids. Or maybe I've just spent too much time thinking about these two topics and it's all just urban legend lol.
