Hey, I have a neat story which involves them: I was working in a daycare downtown, (which sits above part of the tunnel system), and we had an enclosed playground for the kids there. The playground had a a security door with a doorbell, and there was a light attached to it that would flash for a few seconds whenever someone rang it. One day, I was on the playground with a coworker and we started talking about the Shanghai tunnels. At some point, I said, "Do you think they're actually haunted?" And at that moment, the doorbell started going off and the light started flashing like crazy. We just thought it was some other co-worker fooling around or being impatient and laying on the bell, but when we opened the door there was no one there, (and it opened into a big, empty parking lot with nowhere to hide.) It never happened again after that in the entire time I worked there, (which was for years.) Don't know if it was paranormal, but it definitely made my day, (and scared the crap out of my friend)... /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Sorry it isn't as spooky as some of the others but just as haunted I would think and very interesting.

It and it's property has a long history dating back to 1741 and stories from guests and staff are reported almost weekly to this day. Their guest list in the past century boasts people from Roosevelt to the Dali Lama. You can Google it but those stories fall far short of what goes on.

How about Greyfriars cemetary in Edinburgh, Scotland ?

	http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.....s_Kirkyard

"The Greyfriars Cemetery is reputedly haunted. One such haunt is attributed to the restless spirit of the infamous 'Bloody' George Mackenzie buried there in 1691. The 'Mackenzie Poltergeist' is said to cause bruising, bites and cuts on those who come into contact with it and many visitors have reported feeling strange sensations. A schoolboy, hiding in the vault to escape a beating from a master at George Heriot's School, supposedly got trapped here and lost his mind on being confronted by the ghost. Visitors who take the City of the Dead ghost tour, which has access to the Covenanters' Prison, have indeed emerged with injuries they have no recollection of sustaining. Even more interestingly, a number of deaths have taken place in the Kirkyard itself. The television show Scariest Places on Earth featured Greyfriars Cemetery."

It is one pardon my language, "hell" of a spot at a particular place in the Graveyard!

Grayfriar's is a really creepy place. The cemetery was once flat but is now a hill because of all the people buried on top of each other. There are supposedly big mass burials of plague victims. They used so little dirt between and on top of burials that bones come up on a daily basis. Our tour guide warned us not to touch them since they might still have plague bacteria on them. /blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> No one knows how many people are buried there because they just took up the stones, tossed them aside and buried new people directly on top of the others, using just enough dirt to cover the bodies.

Part of the cemetery was used as an outdoor prison and hundreds or maybe a thousand people or more died from exposure and starvation. The survivors were hanged at the direction of Bloody Mackenzie. It's strange that the cemetery has such a horrible history but nothing truly frightening happened there until a homeless man broke into a crypt one night and came out screaming, terrifying a poor local man walking his dog through the cemetery at the time. At that point, all hell broke loose, so to speak.

Supposedly even the buildings around the cemetery have all had activity since the homeless man broke into the mausoleum. Lots of people, including tour leaders, have been attacked. Several people have had to be taken away by ambulance after they lost consciousness in the mausoleum. Nothing happened to our tour group, but there was definitely a very weird feeling in there. It was a cold evening, but the air inside the building was absolutely freezing. It was like walking into a freezer. No place else was that cold.

An exorcist who tried to clear the spirit actually died right after the exorcism, which probably is a coincidence but . . .

The building featured was actually built from a destroyed burial cairn i.e. a stone age passage grave, it is not a very good idea to disturb and desecrate these ancient sites so I am not surprised at what subsequentley occured!

	Montpelier Hse (Hellfire Club)

The Hellfire Club a ruined building near the 383m (1,257 foot) summit of Montpelier Hill in the Dublin Mountains, County Dublin, Ireland. It was built around 1725 by William Conolly, the speaker of the Irish House of Commons. The Irish Hell Fire Club (founded 1735 by Richard Parsons, 1st Earl of Rosse) held meetings at the house. There are many lurid stories of tales of drinking sessions and black masses as well as ritual sacrifices of black cats and several murders!

Haunted or not it is a very weird, unsettling place!

My tour of the White House was white washed so I didn't get neary a feeling in that place but I must say that Arlington Cemetery certainly exuded some very strong vibes for me. I also went on a ghost tour of DC on Halloween night and that was very interesting to hear the haunting tales of St. John's, WH, Decatur House, Dolly Madison and more. I will look thru my pictures and see if anything seems unusual.
