Thanks - pretty much adds support to #1 and #4. Great read .. looking forward to the follow-ups to this dig-investigation.

First - We look at the MAPS with today POV. (Point of View).

Remember land masses and such were different back then. What is a "Ocean" or "Sea" may have been a large River 'back then.

Second - The Garden is BLOCKED! According to the Bible the Door is CLOSED with one mean Angel with a Sword of Fire Guarding it!

(Wonder if the "Sword of Fire" could have been a volcano then, or some other natural "Fire Pit"?)

Third - The Garden of Eden was a "special" and seperate creation of God. This was a meeting place, (dimensional door way?) between Earth and Heaven. (The Tree of Life and of Knowledge of Good and Evil) is there.

Remember Adam pre-existed outside the Garden of Eden, before the Garden was created. He put Adam in the Garden. Eve was the only human created in the Garden.

Fourth - The land mass for all those various animals would have to be LARGE ... we are talking major SQUARE MILES ... serious land mass. So could it be that the Land Mass of the Garden of Eden was Middle East to Egypt and into Africa? Could the Persian Gulf have been the other River?

The thing is the "Door" is closed - so we cannot eat of the "Tree of Life" ... Since the Garden of Eden was a "meeting place" of "Fellowship" with God and man ... again, this could have been a "Dimensional Door Way" to the Dimension of Heaven .. that God obviously CLOSED.

No matter the belief or answer ... we will not find the Garden of Eden ... we are told specifically we will not find it ... that door is closed.

One thing that I find interesting is that many biblical stories do seem to have a root in some truth. In the field of biblical archaeology, archaeologists devote lifetimes to researching and tracking the sources of these stories and have made incredible discoveries in doing so. I like keeping an open mind on issues such as this. It may be myth, but experience has taught me that somewhere, at sometime, there was something at the root of it. Finding that something is where the excitement is!

That's amazing! Is the book still in print? My husband's family are Muslims(fathers family came turn of the century, mother's family came in the 1970's), but my husband is a convert to Catholicism. I've experienced my own "rage" from his family lol so it'd be interesting to read that book.

It has been out of print for a long time but my sister found a copy and uploaded it for us. I will try to send it to you attached to a pm. My great grandmother was German and when she married Yonan they returned to Persia/ Iran for the missionary work together. She was a very courageous and remarkable woman. War is hell and religion, well, you know what I'm talking about!

I also have some ties to this area, my great grandfather, (Yonan Shahbaz) was Persian (Iranian today) and he actually became a Baptist minister and eventually came to America and settled in NY at the turn of the century. He had written a book called The Rage of Islam which was always on my mother's bookshelf. I remember reading some of it as a kid but I never realized how dangerous it was to be a Christian missionary in this part of the world at this point in history. I would like to find out more about my history too! Jill, maybe you and I have ties to the real Garden of Eden!

It was even more interesting for me to read because my husbands family is from that area. His heritage is some small division of Tartar(a mix of Turkish, Mongolian & Iranian)- they were nomadic farmers. His family never talks about their heritage so we're constantly on the hunt for information.

The funniest thing is back when I started dating him I never thought "wow, my boyfriend looks so different." It wasn't until my best friend and I were in the Asian/Middle Eastern exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts when we were looking around and my best friend said "Woah, this bust looks just like your boyfriend." Then we paused and realized all of these ancient people looked just like my boyfriend lol.

Now that we've been married for 5 years and have a 2 year old daughter, we'd love to be able to share more of her heritage with her, so thanks again. Any info on that area is very helpful!

The mis-translation was amazing. And the fact that the Jewish ancestry is more genetically similar to that area, Northern Mediterranean(Kurds, Anatolian Turks, and Armenians) rather than Southern Mediterranean people(Arabs and Bedouins). Absolutely fascinating.

Even the end of Eden makes sense in that location- if you were banished from Turkey and headed towards central Iran all there is is desert wasteland.

This is an excellent point. Also, the Summerian term for mountain pass was "gate". The area thought to be Eden is surrounded by 4 mountain passes, which are described in the modern versions of the bible as "gates". As I mentioned, this article gives one alot to consider!
