Locations for the Garden of Eden have been offered many times before, but seldom in the somewhat inhospitable borderland where Angola and Namibia

meet. A new genetic survey of people in Africa, the largest of its kind, suggests, however, that the region in southwest Africa seems, on the present evidence, to be the origin of modern humans. The authors have also identified some 14 ancestral populations.

The new data goes far toward equalizing the genetic picture of the world, given that most genetic information has come from European and Asian populations. But because it comes from Africa, the continent on which the human lineage evolved, it also sheds light on the origins of human life.

I know JD has some input on this subject.

I could have followed the link, but I'm lazy that way.

Is this assuming that the Garden of Eden was real and not a mythology made up to explain the origin of everything?

in the bible it also gives referense to the location of the garden. It gives the name of two currently known rivers and two that we don't know of. It is supposed to be at the base of those four rivers, and scientist have found traces of two other rivers (beside the two existing rivers) that at one time connected to the two known rivers.

Great question! I watched a special presentation regarding a person whom believed that they found the location of the Garden…I don't remember the exact locale, but as JB said, they found some evidence that may show the location…

If I remember the bible verses correctly it should be cleary marked with a fiery

sword blocking its entrance. I think the latest thinking is in the Middle East

somwhere at the top of the Gulf.

Persian Gulf

On the episode "Mysteries of the Garden of Eden" of the History Channel's Decoding the Past, it is noted that circa 6000 BC, ocean levels were rising, and that near the present entry of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to the Persian Gulf there are geological traces of two fossil rivers from that time frame entering from east and west of the Persian Gulf, conjectured to be the Pishon and Gihon. The conjecture was presented that the garden of Eden referred to a low-lying fertile valley in what is now the Persian Gulf, which was flooded when the seas rose past the level of the lowest passes of the mountains near the present Strait of Hormuz. Such rapid rise would also help explain the Genesis flood origin.

And the archeological evidence for a global, all-consuming flood is what? I mean a robust theory, with peer-review. Real sciency stuff like that. Like publication in the journal "Nature," or "Scientific American." I would like to be educated, to understand.

I watched a documentary in which a guy proposed to have found the location of the garden of eden. I dont remember too much about it although i do seem to remember the evidence and theories being put forward as being feasable. The guys journey took him to Iran, where he identified the possible locations of the rivers mentioned in the biblical dicription, the area to the east of his proposed site was called Nodh. According to the Bible Cain went wandering in the land of nod after being banished from Eden by God for killing his brother Able. Wish id payed a little more attention while i was watching now. Fascinating subject.

For millions of years mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination.

I also remember that documentary. I thought that he presented some really good hypotheses regarding the possible location. I suppose though, that realistically, it could have been almost anywhere else. Sometimes mankind seems to force the world into boundaries that only we set.

There is some fact in every myth. So if you condsider the GOE as a myth then yes…there is a place where it was.

I read or heard years ago that if you look at the Creation part of the Book of Genisis it matches exactly how scientists say the earth and everything was formed. It has the orderly progression of life and was written (or told) by those without any DR's before their name or PHD's after their names.

I'm not always right but I'm never wrong.

The above are my opinions.

There was an article on I think Fox News last week that mentioned the Garden of Eden being found. Scienctist found evidence of where humans re-located during the last ice age somewhere in south Africa. They found the environment being the best for survival of humans but no where else.

perhaps i should reread it…but doesnt Genesis have Earth being created before the Sun?

yes light came first…but then after Earth was created 2 great lights and the stars were created (ie: sun and moon)

Citation needed
