First of all this may have to be moved over to the Mayans thread over here, sorry in advance for the extra work.

While I found the show's premise (sp?) intriquing, the show's set up was annoying. They kept repeating the same information over and over again for the full length of the show. In a nutshell, it basically is trying to validate the 2012 stuff by discussing the wierd celestrial happenings that are scheduled to take place in 2012 and how this remote island in the Pacific will be the only place to able to see, essentially w/the naked eye most of these phenomenons (the final solar eclipse of the year AND Venus moving across the sun). The Mayans had very advanced Astronomical and Mathmatical ability which was lost in the conquest forever….

has anyone else seen this? I only caught like the last 20 minutes or so when this explorer who'd previousily discovered Mayan ruins on this island appears to be trying to entice an investor to get $$$ involved in further research on the island before it's too late. So he has to drag this poor dude out in really heinous conditions to show him the ruins…

The Mayans had very advanced Astronomical and Mathmatical ability which was lost in the conquest forever….

Q: When am I ever going to use this crap in real life (advanced mathmatics)?

A: To properly calculate the end of the world…

Well….crap. Guess I should have paid better attention in algebra, lol… /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Maybe the Mayans should have gotten a bigger rock.

I'm not always right but I'm never wrong.

The above are my opinions.

I think I saw this, the first guy had been to the ruins before and wanted to bring the other guy there to validate that it was there. Pretty scary a couple of times during the boat ride and then up the rock. It is pretty amazing that astronomy and mathematics was studied so intensely. I guess we will just have to wait and see what 2012 has in store for us.
