Who is Stacy Peterson?

Disappeared several months ago. Her husband, Drew, is in jail awaiting trial on charges of her murder. This is his second wife to go missing mysteriously. He's been claiming she left him. If there is a body, it will be more difficult to make those claims.

Actually, Stacy Peterson is Drew Peterson's fourth wife. Drew is in jail now currently awaiting trial for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, who was found dead in a waterless bathtub. Originally, it was ruled accidental. However, after Stacy Peterson's disappearance, Kathleen's body was exhumed and the medical examiner found that she died of drowning following a struggle. Illinois' State Attorney General ruled it was a "homicide staged to look like an accident."

A pastor at Stacy Peterson's church has come forward and said that Drew admitted to his then wife, Stacy, that he did kill Kathleen and had made it appear as an accident. The pastor has also stated that Stacy was afraid of her husband and in fear of her life. This, of course, is hearsay and I'm not certain if he appeared in front of the grand jury who ultimately handed down the indictment against Drew Peterson. Suffice it to say, the police has been quietly but steadfastly investigating Kathleen's death and Stacy's disappearance for years. Another factor that has come to light is that there was a large insurance policy in Kathleen's name.

I think what offends most people is Drew Peterson's cavalier attitude throughout. He has laughed at the press and openly mocked all his former wives. He is also a former police officer.

Thanks Carolyn, for the clarification. I knew I didn't have it QUITE right. Yeah – he is a smirky creep. Maybe now if they have a body, they can proceed with prosecution.

That legal background of mine rears its ugly head once again! Try as I might, it overtakes me sometimes.

Today's news (Friday) stated that they have to wait several weeks for the DNA results.

I hope he is sweating bullets in that jail the entire time.

Sounds like this guy needs a full metal jacketed anti depressant to the back of the head to me!

This morning's news (Saturday) reports that the prosecutors have stated Peterson tried to hire a hit man to kill his third wife weeks before her body was discovered. Also released was his alleged comment to a fellow police officer that this divorce (from Kathleen Savio) would ruin him financially and he wanted her dead.

Apparently, he finally listened to his defense attorneys' advice yesterday when he appeared at his bail reduction hearing ($20 million bond – which is the highest in Illinois' history) with his head down and his mouth shut. Didn't help him one bit and a little too late. His bail was NOT reduced.
