I will always remember his purring, his companionship, his strange knowing when I was feeling down or stressed.

He always knew when to nuzzle into my leg or jump up on my lap, or lay on my computer keyboard to await

some affectionate petting, that always calmed me and helped me feel so loved and appreciated.

Today at 1:15 I had to put my cat to sleep because of his age and good humanity.

I was with him alone with the vet, wrapped in his favorite tiger sleeping pillow.

He hadn't barely purred in the last two days, but today purred as I held him in my arms

and he fell into his restful slumber.

The world was a much better place with you in it Shadow.

I love you and I miss you Shad.

I'm sorry for your loss. A feline friend brings such comfort; I understand. I had to put my Ms. Kitty down after 13 years and my other friend Annie is getting there too, don't know when, its been 15 years so far with her. She's been my constant companion since my Grandmother died. It gets better with time, I assure you. Its the kindest thing you could do. My condolences.

Its only been a week, and not to sound sexist, coming from a guy here, I took the day off work yesterday because I woke up way too emotional.

I didn't think I had the strength either, but he had been seriously like my best companion, well except for my wife, for 20 years. He was so very

tired. I don't know if it was strenght, I just had felt like I had to be there, I know if it were me on my last leg, he would have stayed with

me through it all. This was probobly one of the hardest things to do in my life. From the sound of it, AH you most likely already have the strength.

GeekSpeak, I am so sorry for your loss. A good friend of mine just had to do the same thing for her 14 year old Rusty. I cried for her because I know what a loss it is.

I lost three cats when we lived in the mountains...we had bear, coyote and any other number of wild, hungry things. They had become parts of our family and I still miss MY Bubba who was my true friend.

Its wholly different when you are there and stay until the very end. I don't think I have the strength to do that.I feel for you.

About a month I had to put my Dob Kiwi to sleep, she was 13.

My dauther's cat Bunny is 18 and not doing well.
