I read on MSN today that this was a hoax.

If it isn't it's really sad. /sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

I have an idea that the phrase "weaker sex" was coined by some woman to disarm some man she was preparing to overwhelm. ~Ogden Nash

Yeah – it definitely looks like it is the real deal. RIP Dio.

It is hard to fathom that he was 67. Ronnie James Dio made a huge impact on the music world. He will be missed.

I'm bummed, major part of my high school years…first couple of Dio cds were brilliant, his work w/Rainbow was really awesome too, but then how can you go wrong w/Richie Blackmore on guitar? I was listening to Man on the Silver Mountain friday after work and had it CRANKED!! Not such a fan of his Sabbath stuff as I'm an Ozzy purist that way. Amazing pipes for such a dimunitive individual! 67 eh? Impressive! I should be so lucky to last that long. Thanks for all the killer tunes RJD you were never TRULY the last in line!

As if his passing wasn't sad enough, Westboro Baptist Church, known for it's extremism, is planning to picket his funeral. Absolutely disgusting.

Here's a link to a Facebook page setup to stop them. Stop the WBC

When this occurs, dissent becomes an object of surprise, if not resentment.

Those people are such cowards, I'm not sure whether or not you'd heard THIS story, but the son of a Hell's Angel was killed in either Iraq or Afghanistan. When they brought the body home for the funeral they were waiting outside the funeral home/church to protest and carry on until about 100 or so Angels, in full colors, materialized thundering up the road for the services. The cops decided to call it a day and left. Once these WBCers realized they had no protection they folded up shop faster then you can say "boo", especially when the bikers headed right towards them. So much for faith eh? Don't get me started on these nudnicks…my boss was telling me that up in Mendocino county, they had these activists living up in the trees to prevent construction that need to go through. When they realized they weren't going to get their way they drove metal spikes into the trees in various spots. When they were finally pulled from the trees and the workers began cutting them down, the chainsaws would hit the spikes causing the chain to break off and injure the workers. They had dudes getting disfigured, losing eyes, etc for what? Because a hippie didn't want a decaying tree that was severely rotted to be taken down before it did property and/or utility damage? Heaven forbid they lose the electricity for their hydroponic pot growing operations…geniuses. I also happen to live near a Chevron facility and every now and then, they stage a protest about the foul evils of the oil company, but then b!tch and complain when they're CARS AND VANS are ticketed and towed. I'm no fan of big oil but I'm no hypocrite either. I don't remember seeing any hang gliders or sailboats around funny how that happens.

Good! We need more of that. Cowards? I agree 100% with you. In fact, it's probably too tame a word for what these people are.

As Peter Griffin says, it really "grinds my gears" that these "people" (and I use that term loosely) who contribute NOTHING to the world or the betterment of their surroundings have the audacity to disparage people who either contributed so much to our culture and or way of life. Or in the case of our military people the ultimate sacrifice. There are those who sit on the sidelines and critique and those who get the "f" in there and make their presence known for THE RIGHT REASONS something parasites like them COULD NEVER understand…all the inbreeding i'd imagine.

Trust me, you said what I was thinking for the most part. It's vile, how these people think.

Don't want to derail the topic either. I'll shut up now. /mellow.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />
