Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 20th 1942, Richard Edmund LaMotta is best known as "Mr. Chipwich", the inventor of the original Chipwich, the ice cream cookie sandwich. He worked hard his whole life, attending the prestigious Brooklyn Tech High School, and Brooklyn College and NY Law School at night over many years while working jobs at AT&T and CBS. Chipwich Chippoppity, a cookie candy, came out of the Chipwich brand and at its second release functioned in conjunction with MyStudentBiz, a business which allowed students to earn money, scholarships, and own a part of the company. His goal was to pass on the entrepreneurship skills he had learned, by mentoring students and helping anyone who asked for his advice. He created companies that would help people, like his current company, The MD System, an all natural pain relief system, which will continue on.

Back many years ago when I worked at Knott's Berry Farm, I had many opportunities to work at the Chipwich carts, and OMG, people really loved the Chipwhiches and would be very sad when we ran out!

Is it a California thing? We had Friendly's and Carvell back east never heard of it though. Did(do?) you get it in the grocery store?

I don't know…I lived outside of Philly most of my adult life and in the NYC metro area during college….never had one or heard 'em mentioned. So it's available at the grocery store I take it?
