Richard Dawson best known for his work as Newkirk on Hogan's Heroes and the host of Family Feud died last night after a battle with esophogeal cancer. What people don't realize that it was his appearances on the panel of MATCHGAME (with another legendary gameshow host Gene Rayburn) that led executives to believe he could host his own show…enter Family Feud. He was known to have kissed all the female contestants, it's believed to be about 20,000 all told.

He wasn't in too many turkeys…I guess he left family feud initially because of $$$, but I always like him and Gene Rayburn (sp?) the best. Matchgame was awesome. I never watched any other game show too much except Jeopardy and WOF, but I grew tired of those, the hosts are just so dry and boring.
