Phoebe Snow best known for her hit "Poetry Man" has died from complications of a brain hemorrage she suffered in Jan 2010, she was 58.

She was briefly married to Phil Kearns, and, in December 1975, gave birth to a severely brain-injured daughter, Valerie. Snow resolved not to institutionalize her but instead care for her at home, which she did until Valerie died on March 18, 2007 at the age of 31. Snow's efforts to care for Valerie greatly and negatively affected her professional career, nearly ending it; it also adversely affected her personal life.

She had an amazing voice, tough life and will be sorely missed. Goodnight songbird!

In honor of Ms. Snow I just downloaded the NY Rock and Soul Revue Live at the Beacon Theater…incredible show and a precursor to Steely Dan reuniting in the 90s. Sold it off years ago, but decided to get it again and I might also by some of her solo stuff.

I highly recommend.

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm not familiar with her, but since she sounds like a truly admirable women as well as a great singer, I'll make sure to find some of her songs.

I sincerely hope she's reunited with her daughter.

RIP, Ms. Snowe.
