It really doesn't seem that long ago.

I recently watch a docu on the CIA surveillance on Lennon, Yoko, and his personal assistant.

Never got why he was such a threat, other than people like Nixon feared him.

Shame for someone who spoke out on peace.

Well, I would say that he posed a very serious threat to the paranoidic establishment as he was a VERY vocal advocate for civil rights and the anti war movement. He was young, had a platform to express himself and very wealthy. If this had happened when Lennon was younger, i would've said it was a "hit" to shut him up.

I find it just unbelieveable that he stays in a facility that Lennon used to donate to for the protection and fair treatment of the inmates. As repulsive as the murderous act itself was it's far eclipsed by the way his killer is treated now...conjugal visits not the least among them. While no fan of Yoko's, I think it's deplorable that she actually has to relive the horror of that day for his parole hearings, what a complete slap in the face to family and fans alike.

Like most, I found out about it via Howard Cosell live on Monday Night Football (Miami vs. Patriots) as one of ABC's producers had been in a motorcycle accident and was in the Emergency room when John was brought in (DOA). The source of all that incredible music, art and humanitarianism stolen from us...still bothers me to this day!
