You can blame Alan Alda for that. There were so many great episodes but I think my all time favorite if not THE favorite episodes was the Hawkeye led Mess hall uprising. "...........I've eaten a river of liver and an ocean of fish" and they wind up getting "Adam's Ribs" from Chicago across from the Train station.

As far as those older TV shows, I remember most of them as re-runs and not really as first run programs. Hogan's Heros which, if i'm not mistaken, went off the air when Bob Crane was murdered. Bewitched etc...I don't remember what shows were popular when I was growing up only because I very seldom got the choice of programming in a one tv household and being lowest on the totem pole. My father used to watch World at War, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom (w/Marlon Perkins). My Mom and sisters were partial to Dark Shadows (w/Kate Jackson), Mike Douglas show, Merv Griffin, All In the Family, Sanford and Son, Welcome back Kotter, the Invisible Man (w/David McCallum aka Ilya Kariakan from Man from Uncle fame) and Man from Atlantis (w/Patrick Duffy pre Dallas), 60 Minutes. I don't know...I remember the Incredible Hulk w/Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno being the first regular show I watched...friday nights followed by the Dukes of Hazzard and then I think Dallas (I didn't watch that).

That was a little before my time. But I always loved him in MASH. I'm a huge MASH fan and have very distinct preferences when it comes to that show. I LOVE those earlier seasons, w/Blake, Burns, Radar and Trapper John, but after awhile they sort of out grew those roles or had become caricatures of themselves (specifically Burns and Radar) and needed to move on. As a younger person watching the re-runs I probably didn't have a sophisticated enough pallette to appreciate the subtleties of the acting chops of DOS and Morgan, but I grew to appreciate them...specifically Morgan. I never really cared for BJ, I thought he was a very vanilla replacement. Trapper was awesome.

	RIP Harry Morgan...

Before he was Col. Potter he played a nutty Army officer in a previous season of the M*A*S*H.

He was General Steel in that episode. Loved it. It's funny but I thought he had passed away in the past but was surprised to see that he was still alive.

	He will be sorely missed.

Yes he had appeared in a previous episode but certainly not the only actor to do so...over the course of the series I think Mako appeared like 7 times as different people. In my mind I can see and hear Cpl Klinger practicing forging Col Potters signature on forms....SHERMAAAN TEEEEEE POTTAAAAAAH (then a flourish). Hate to admit it but I also thought he'd passed. 2011 was a rough year for celebrities, I went through the LA Times year end round up of those had passed and it was astounding.
