I don't like that they buried his picture under home plate. That's just weird.

Harmon Killebrew, the soft spoken slugger best known for his time w/the Minnesota Twins, passed yesterday after a battle w/esphogeal cancer. He was 74 and remained a fan favorite long after his retirement. Up until the steroid era he was the 2nd most prolific home run hitter the American league ever saw (behind only Babe Ruth). He was known for his humbleness and sense of humor about his accomplishments, saying that while he had a lot of home runs (573) he also had 1700 strikeouts and 1400 walks. He joked that just those at bats alone would've easily represented the average players number of at bats in a 5 year span. He was also well known for his charity work and was labelled the first gentleman athlete.

At the time of his death, he was ranked at 11th place on the all time homerun list.

You, Sir, were a class act and it's a shame that more of today's athletes aren't more like you, rest in peace !
