She may have been a rich and famous movie star, but that woman had a pretty tough life, I think.

At the age of 79 due to heart failure. She had quite a life, RIP Liz. People always told my Mum that she looked like Liz Taylor (and my stepfather looked like Joe Namath) in their heydays.

I've never known Liz Taylor as anything but a "celebrity" who did lots of charity work for AIDS/HIV related charities LONG before it was "acceptable" in popular circles, so I have nothing but mad respect for her in that regard. Her acting career had sort of fizzled by the time I was old enough to know any better…The only other thing I knew was Joan Rivers making fun of her

One of the greats.

I agree. Not only was she one of the most beautiful women who ever lived, she could actually act. And the jewelry!!! Sigh….

Rest in peace, Ms. Taylor. You won't be forgotten.

I loved her in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Giant. There was another one I loved involving a love triangle, a rowboat and a drowning/ murder in a lake but I can't think of the name. She was a beauty, especially in her charity work as mentioned above.

Saw a clip of A Place in the Sun this morning, that's the one I was thinking of with the love triangle. Geez, she was a gorgeous woman, what a life! I hope AMC does a special week of movies to honor her career.

I would like to add Grace Kelly to that list, too. She had it all, in spades. She was both classically beautiful and so very elegant. Classy doesn't even come close to describing her. My husband and I agree that she was the epitome of beauty, style and grace. She even married a prince and went to live in Monaco. Does it get any better than that?

To me, she and Elizabeth Taylor were like the two sides of a coin. One was a beautiful brunette, voluptuous and sexy yet reserved. The other was the classic cool blonde, beautiful, slender and elegant.

They both had beautifully modulated voices and regal bearing. They always wore the most wonderful clothes.

They both had an air of mystery and were very self-contained, like purebred cats. If they had problems, they kept them to themselves. You certainly can't picture them doing a reality show or appearing on Celebrity Rehab. Best of all, they kept their political opinions to themselves.

They just don't make them like that anymore. Now it's all see-through dresses and TMI It's a shame. I miss old Hollywood glamour, when stars were bigger than life and twice as beautiful. Even the men were handsome and charming. Think Gregory Peck and Cary Grant in tuxedos and gray flannel suits. No ripped jeans and tattoos then. Sigh.
