OfflineAs a thread doesn't already exist for Elisabeth Sladen, I thought I'd start one.
While her character of Sarah Jane Smith was a little before my TV watching time originally, (I was only three when her role as the "companion" to both Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker's incarnation of Doctor Who came to a close, I've seen re-runs over the decades that followed and have warm memories of the character she played.) I was happy when she made a cameo resurrecting Sarah Jane in a 2006 episode of Dr. Who and then also was given the lead in her own series to reprise this famous role, albeit in a kids oriented Dr. Who spin-off – The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Her death has sent a shockwave through the Dr. Who communities, and she'll be missed by millions who grew up enjoying the show. (I can still remember hiding behind cushions as a youngster in England when the Dalek's attacked!) Although the show isn't yet very popular here in America, it does have a significant obsessed cult following though, and the new season starts shortly on BBC America concurrently with the BBC in the UK. This season is based in the USA presumably to try to popularize it to the American audience, so Dr. Who may well become a relative hit show in this country too soon. It's a shame Lis will no longer be a part of the phenomenon.
RIP Lis.

I never watched Dr. Who but will watch for it and take it for a test drive. Ms. Sladen sounds like a talented and very popular actress in England and I'm sure she will be missed by all. Rest in Peace Elisabeth Sladen.
OfflineI remembered her from the Tom Baker years. I forgot what chanel it showed on here, probably PBS and caught her again when SciFi used to air the new Dr. Who. Unfortunatly my cable company does not have BBC America except for BBC News chan. She'll be missed in the world of the Doctor.
