There Is Nothing New Under the Sun

From time to time, I have dreams that come true. At least once a month I dream about something and within a day or two, the dream has come to fruition. These “prophetic” dreams have a different feel to them than many of my other dreams. For starters, they are not bizarre. I never see a hippo in a tutu on roller skates that turns into a banana. Instead, they are little “slice of life” snippets. They are also extremely vivid.
I don’t consider myself psychic by any stretch of the imagination, although I do consider myself pretty darn intuitive. I believe that any and all of us have the capability of tuning in to our environment if we are quiet and pay attention. To me this isn’t even anything magical. Instead, I believe that it has a basis in the physics of our universe. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Every bit of energy that currently exists came into being at the moment of the Big Bang. Not only that, but Einstein showed with his famous E=mc2 equation that energy and matter are essentially one and the same. The entire universe was formed out of that energy, and everything that has changed throughout the history of our universe has merely been that energy assuming different forms.
There’s more. Entanglement tells us that once a subatomic particle has interacted with another subatomic particle, those two particles are forever entangled. Even if that entanglement is physically destroyed, there seems to be a “quantum afterlife” in which the particles remain entangled. Since all of energy interacted with every particle and wave at the moment of the Big Bang, it follows then that all energy is entangled. It would seem that our universe is one giant entangled web of energy that remakes itself into different images as time passes.
From Ecclesiastes 1:9 – What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Seems that even in ancient times, there was a very fundamental understanding of this. In a very real sense – there is nothing new. Just thoughts and things that appear new when energy reforms in a different way. But it is the same old energy that has always been there, and will continue to be there long after we are all taking dirt naps.
In this very real way, we are all connected to everything that comes before us and everything that comes after us. It makes me wonder – where did the energy that makes up me come from? Is there a grouping of energy that makes up my “soul”? If there is, does that energy reform into a human body every century or so? Or maybe this person who is uniquely me could contain snippets of energy from all kind of life forms that came before me. Could this be the basis for reincarnation?
What if all of that energy that reforms itself over and over again actually retains information? And what if, given that all energy is entangled, that information can be accessed anywhere at any time? The implications of that are so far reaching that it boggles the mind.
We live in a world where everything seems to be solid. I can look out my window right now and see a tree. If I ran smack into that tree, the bruises on my body would tell me that both the tree and my body were, indeed, very solid. And yet, it is an illusion. On a subatomic level, both me and the tree are made up of vast empty spaces. The solidness of me, the solidness of the tree, even this chair in which I am sitting under the roof that is protecting me from the elements are all illusory. And not illusory in some New Agey sort of way, but illusory in a very real and scientifically provable way.
Why am I sharing this all with you? Because as much as we think we truly know – we have no idea about the true nature of our universe. Instead, we believe what we can sense and what we can test empirically. That “evidence” goes a long way towards helping us to explain our universe. But I believe there is more to this universe than we can ever know or understand. It is why I believe that anything is possible. How can we know for certain the truth of anything when we are limited to our perceptions of it? That’s what makes the universe so darn cool – because anything is possible, and there is nothing new under the sun.
