Brent Fair – the Gift that Keeps on Giving

Dreamsinger sent me this today. Thanks, Dream.

It is from Chip Coffey’s MySpace Bulletin. It makes its own gravy – so I don’t think that my commentary is needed:

TALA event canceled

It is with deep regret that I must inform everyone that the event scheduled for this weekend at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in West Virginia will not be taking place.

I was scheduled to appear at the event and was informed today that the event will not happen.

Brent Fair and Odyssey Star Productions originally promoted/coordinated this event. It sickens me to think that this situation is turning into a repeat of the TapsCon debacle.

After all the money to produce the TALA event was siphoned from the Odyssey Star account, Bob and Summer Jennings tried desperately, against insurmountable odds, to insure that the event would go on as planned. Sadly, at the last minute, they were unable to reach agreements with the venue and the event was canceled.

Unfortunately, I have no information to offer regarding refunds to those who paid to attend this event. :-(

If/when I do receive such information, I will post it immediately.

I feel very sorry for those who paid to attend this event. Odyssey Star Productions had a pretty big “Get out of refunding money” statement on their site for ticket purchases, which unfortunately will probably stand up in court unless it can be proven the event was fraudulent from the get go.

As for Mr. Fair and Nancy Planeta, they seemed to have stiffed the Seven Sisters Inn as well, with Nancy Planeta not paying for some luggage she allegedly purchased from the gift shop. Hopefully Mr. Fair gets hauled into court and has to explain his actions.

For those who used PayPal to purchase tickets to this event, I suggest filing a complaint with PayPal. I know the guys at Odyssey Star Productions are asking that you don’t, but that’s in their interest and not yours. Not filing will only guarantee that you never see your money, whereas filing will give you a chance that you will get something back.

Not the first time I have seen this has happened nor the last I am sure. Still it makes for a sad day in the paranormal community when it does.
Unfortunately there are two words that sum it all up. Although people hate to hear them…
    “Caveat emptor”

How anyone would feel safe purchasing tickets to an odyssey-star event these days is beyond me.
