A Week Off

by Karen Frazier, Managing Editor
Paranormal Underground Magazine

I have been remiss. I haven’t been around blogging. Not that anyone noticed, but if you did, I thought I’d check in. For the past week, I haven’t been avoiding my blog. I’ve been living in a drugged out haze of kidney stone pain.

It started on Tuesday, receded Wednesday and then returned Thursday with a vengeance. Since then, the stone has been letting me know when it is on the move. Unpleasant, to say the least. And yet, a vacation of sorts at the same time.

I’ve been going 100 miles per hour for the past year. A few times, I’ve longed to take a vacation, but I haven’t allowed myself to rest. No time. Gotta make stuff happen.

For the past week, I’ve had no choice. When I won’t take the time for myself, my body checks in and forces me to take time off.

It’s been weird – not writing for a week. After all, writing is who I am. It is what I do, and it is how I express myself. Regardless of how I am feeling, I think I have to get back to work tomorrow. I’m so far behind it’s not funny. But still, it’s good to know – I took a week off and the world didn’t come crashing down around my ears. Yeah – the house is a mess. Yeah – I’m behind on my projects. Yeah – my family has been living on assorted fast food/instant foods – but I’ve been out of commission for a week and the world continues on just fine in my absence. Good to know just in case I decide to take an actual vacation.
